Charleston, South Carolina—Thomas Parsell, renowned Charleston restaurateur and vice chair/chairman elect of DiRoNA, 63, was killed in an automobile accident September 26.
Parsell was cofounder of Magnolias, Blossom Café, Cypress Lowcountry Grill, along with chef/business partner Donald Barickman. He first ventured into the restaurant business with the opening of Magnolias in 1990, less than a year after the city was devasted by Hurricane Hugo, and was widely praised by the city's business community for this vote of confidence.
Parsell and his wife, Suzi, were involved in a number of cultural and landmarks preservations projects in Charleston.
