The ABCs of Kosher Wine
Wine Spectator School offering new course
Posted: Friday, June 16, 2006
Wine Spectator School has launched a new course called the Kosher ABCs of Wine Tasting. This online course is ideal for those who want to learn not only how to evaluate a wine but also how to describe its flavors--all while learning about kosher wines and Israel's wine regions.
The course begins by teaching you just what it is that makes kosher wine kosher--essentially, the process by which wine is made in accordance with Jewish dietary law. It won't be long before you're tasting and evaluating several white and red kosher wines, as well as learning about where the wines are made and by whom. You'll even get some great ideas for pairing kosher wines and foods.
The Kosher ABCs is the perfect way to learn the ins and outs of a unique kind of wine that is growing in popularity and improving in quality each year. And this isn't just all about wines made in Israel. There are kosher wines being produced in many of the world's top regions, from Marlborough to Napa to Bordeaux.
Priced at $39, the course includes two tutored tastings that can be shared with family and friends, interviews with prominent winemakers, and printable worksheets and study guides. If you have any questions along the way, a professor will be quick to answer your questions via e-mail. Certificates are granted upon successful completion of the online quizzes and exam.
The next course, Wine and Food Pairing, will be available in early September. For more information, to see the complete course catalog or to enroll, visit www.winespectatorschool.com.
